A new local NHS helpline has launched for residents of Cheshire West, Cheshire East and Wirral for those with concerns about their own mental health or that of their children. It is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Their resources for young people are available at https://www.mymind.org.uk/about-mymind/young-people/resources-for-young-people/
What to do if you need urgent mental health help:
· Please call 0300 303 3972 and our dedicated local NHS staff will support you to access the help you need;
· The helpline is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week and is open to people of all ages – including children and young people;
· The helpline is now the first port of call for mental health help – it is operated by people in your local area who will know how best to support you. If you call NHS111 you may have to wait longer for help and will be re-directed to this local service – so call 0300 303 3972;
· Please note, A&E and 999 are not the best places to get help for the majority of mental health problems – call 0300 303 3972 to be directed to the best local service to support you;
· You should still call 999 or go to A&E if you have an immediate, life-threatening emergency requiring mental or physical health assistance;
· For non-urgent help and general wellbeing advice, the CWP website contains information and links to resources to support people with anxiety, low mood, and worries relating to the current Covid-19 pandemic http://www.cwp.nhs.uk/

School Closure and Key Workers
As you are already aware, the Government has announced that schools in England are to close at the end of tomorrow until we are advised to reopen.
The Government has also requested for schools to stay open for the children of ‘key workers’ and for vulnerable children (either in receipt of an Educational Healthcare Plan or being supported by a Social Worker).
Following this announcement, I am working closely with all the schools in the Poynton, Disley and Adlington areas to identify a local and collaborative response.
The Local Authority has identified who qualifies as a ‘key worker’ below:
Emergency Service Essential NHS staff Social Workers Military School transport Education/childcare settings staff Essential Adult Services Food Delivery/Transport Other pls advise
In order to facilitate our planning, if both parents qualify as a ‘key worker’ AND would like to secure continuous education (including throughout the Easter holidays), so that you are able to continue to go to work, please respond to the spider survey by 13:00 so we can submit to the Government by 14:00. Details of proof of eligibility will follow later.
Those eligible to continue to send their child to school will be contacted directly and notified of specific arrangements.
Further information for Parents/Carers of children in receipt of Free School Meals will follow later.
A letter about learning at home will follow.
Date: 19th Mar 2020 @ 3:39pm
For the majority of children, school will be closed from the end of Friday 20th March. In order to support your child to continue with their education at home, the teachers have been working incredibly hard to set up online learning resources.
On each Year Group’s website page (www.vernonprimaryschool.co.uk), you will be able to find details of activities your child can complete at home.
By 9.00am every Monday morning, teachers will upload English and Maths activities, including links to online learning platforms and further resources. There will also be information about exciting projects for all other curriculum areas that your child can engage with over the coming weeks. For our pupils in the Reception classes, a link to ‘Tapestry’ will be uploaded to the Reception website page by 9.00am on Monday morning. Tapestry will be updated regularly with appropriate Early Years activities and you will be able to continue to access and use your Tapestry account as normal.
These online learning website updates will continue until Friday 3rd April when the Easter holidays will begin and will resume on Monday 20th April after the holiday.
The office team will be checking emails regularly during this period of school closure (term time) should anyone need to communicate with the teachers (please use the email@example.com for such communication and not the teachers’ own email addresses).
I have been overwhelmed by the dedication and commitment of my hardworking team here at Vernon who will be continuing to carry out their roles in the coming weeks and months.
I would like to say a huge thank you for all your support as Parents and Carers during this uncertain and challenging time. Your positive emails and comments have really boosted morale amongst the team.
Stay safe and well and I look forward to seeing you all soon.
Mrs J Carvell

New guidance for households with symptoms
Yesterday, the Government introduced new guidance on whole household isolation in response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak:

The full stay at home guidance for households with these symptoms can be found here:

This week we are putting further precautionary measures in place in light of the current situation with the coronavirus. Please refer to the list below:
- Face to face meetings and parent information meetings are postponed.
- Volunteers are not to help out in school until further notice.
- Changes to drop off arrangements each morning are as follows. Classroom doors will be open in the morning for children to go straight into class with the teacher. We are trying to minimise large gatherings of people. Miss Wildig’s class are to use Mrs Tootell’s classroom door.
Please help us to protect our staff and pupils in school by keeping children who are ill at home.
We ask that all communication to the teachers is done by email directly to the school office – firstname.lastname@example.org and these messages can then be passed on to the teachers.
If your child is at home due to isolation, please use the resources already on the website. Should the school close, then daily work will be posted on to the class pages for parents and children to access.

Date: 12th Mar 2020 @ 12:46pm
We have taken the decision to postpone the discos on Friday 13th March. We appreciate this will be disappointing for the children however we are following advice to reduce unnecessary gatherings to reinforce preventative strategies and manage risk.
Further information regarding measures we are putting in place will follow tomorrow however please be reassured we are following all the guidelines and taking all the necessary steps to reduce risk.
We thank you for your continued support.
