At Vernon Primary School we are pleased to have an active and enthusiatic Eco Council. Each class has two Eco Council representatives, who meet regularly with Miss Worthington. As a group, the eco members discuss and act upon ways to improve our school environment. Pupils take key roles in decision-making and participation in order to reduce the environmental impact of our school. As a school we hope to extend the pupils' environmental awareness and learning beyond the classroom and develop responsible citizenship attitudes both at home and in the wider community.
The Eco Councillors develop their communication and discussion skills as well as developing their own confidence. The Eco Councillors have the responsibility of voicing their own opinions and the ones of their class. They also have an opportunity to feed back infomation to their class after each meeting.
We are currently busy creating recycling points around school to recycle crisp packets, pens and glue sticks.
